Joe McMullen Obituary

Joe Dale McMullen April 1, 1921 - August 2, 2006 Joe Dale McMullen passed away on Wednesday, August 2, 2006 surrounded by family and friends. He was born April 1, 1921 in Boynton, OK to James and Lily Mae (Ray) McMullen. He married Shirley Anne Lyle on August 22, 1953 in Rangely, CO on his nephew, Bob McMullen's 8th birthday. Joe graduated from Central High School, Muskogee, OK in 1942, while attending, he taught welding classes. He joined the US Navy and served in Guam during WWII. He moved to Rangley, CO in 1947 where he owned and operated Central Welding and Machine Shop until retirement in 1977. He then moved to Palisade, CO, spending much time traveling and living in Port Aransas and Rockport, Texas where Joe loved to fish and hunt for coins with his metal detector. Joe was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Rangely, CO for over 50 years and the Elks Lodge of Rangely, CO. He served as president of the Bank of Rangely board of directors and was a member of the Rangely City Council. Joe will be sadly missed by his family and a host of friends that he cherished. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, brother, JV "Dude" McMullen, William "Bill" McMullen, Dewey "Mickey" McMullen and his sister, Mickey Allene-Hall Schell. He is survived by his wife, Shirley, of the home, daughter; Sherry (Cliff) Roberson, Blue Springs, MO, son; Robert McMullen, Corpus Christi, TX, special daughter; Denise Maddox, Dallas, TX, three grandsons; Kelly and Greg Roberson, Blue Springs, MO and Joe McMullen, Atlanta, GA, sister, Maxine (Chuck) Enterline, Rangely, CO, numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly, and his little dogs, Buddy, Molly and Dixie. A funeral service for Mr. McMullen will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 5, 2006 at the Bradley Belltower Chapel with Reverend Gary Dotson officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family has entrusted Bradley Family Funeral Service of Muskogee with the arrangements.
