Remembering Katy, the best maid of honor a gal could have (June 13, 1964)

Katy was intelligent, thoughtful, and rose above far more than her share of health problems. She was a talented knitter and seamstress and designed exquisite needle art treasured by all lucky enough to possess her work. Caring and thoughtful, she was an excellent counselor and mentor who provided calming insight into life’s perplexities. She was tenacious, had excellent taste, and possessed in spades that all-too-elusive-quality called Grit. Unable to continue her beloved needlework, Katy became a computer expert, participating in the Grand Mesa Macintosh Users Group, loving all things Apple, and mentoring others into the baffling world of computers. My honorary sister (I married her brother) and I became BFFs all too late. She leaves behind a legacy of love, thoughtfulness, and determination, and her quiet counsel is (and will be) heartily missed.
