Our deepest sympathy are expressed to Melvin's Family.
Altho I only met Melvin a few times in my life, I will always reconize his wonderful smile. I also have a sweet story my Mom (Garnet Sophocles) loved to tell. Apparently Melvin (and brothers)were concerned about protecting their cousin from her new boyfriend (George Sophocles)and talked of "cleaning his plow". They were waiting for George to arrive one evening. However, upon opening the door and sizing Dad up & down, Melvin recognized that Dad was fresh & fit, recently out of the service, and he reconsidered! The whole encounter passed with Melvin simply saying: "Howdy" and stepping aside... Melvin and George remained friends their whole lives and Mom was always touched that Melvin would offer such protection!
