Randy Judge Obituary

Randy Judge

September 29, 1953 - November 13, 2021

Music and Inspiration

Born in Cranston, Rhode Island, to George and Nancy Judge, Randy grew up in Littleton, New Hampshire. He was the eldest of two siblings, brother, Terry, of Anchorage, Alaska, and sister, Nikki, of Kalispell, Montana. He graduated from Littleton High School in 1971. His passion for music blossomed early in life. He was a driven natural performer with an infectious enthusiasm that inspired everyone around him.

Randy was preceded in death by parents, George R. Judge, Jr., and Nancy H. J. Kuster; maternal grandparents, Bill and Elsie Hodgkins, and paternal grandparents, George R. Judge, Sr. and Doris Judge.

He moved to Eagle River, Alaska, with his family after graduation, where he met and married Vicki (Coan) Judge, also of Eagle River, Alaska. Two sons were born to the union, Raymond in 1973 and Jasper in 1976.

The family moved to Spokane, Washington in 1980, then Bellingham, Washington in 1981.

In 1983, the family moved to Delta, Colorado. There, Randy joined the Black Timber Band. 38 years of inspired stage performances in venues all over the western slope of Colorado defined the career of a talented musician; his passion in his final performance matched his first one.

Randy always loved learning. He craved the steepest learning curve possible.

He was a talented sound engineer, delivering quality sound for many bands over the years, as well as running sound for his own band, while they played. The last several years, he worked for Snob Productions, where he quickly learned and embraced digital sound technology.

Beloved father.

Missed by family, friends, fans, fellow musicians, aspiring musicians.

I recently rediscovered videos recorded by Gary Cavalier at Cheers in Paonia of the Fourplay band (opening for The Nighthawks) in which both Randy and I played. Man! I miss the guy! He was a fine performer and the videos brought back for me just how good he was (and still is on The Webz!) I hated to leave the area but it was quite unavoidable. Special thanks to Gary for making recordings commemorating artists like Randy. Hi Vicki, hope you are well.

So sorry to hear this. What a beautiful person taken too soon. I will always remember you and all the music, the dances and even the late night breakfasts. I know your sweet smile and happy soul will light up heaven. Rest in peace my friend.
