Raymond Meininger Obituary
December 20, 1930 - May 2, 2021
Dad has gone to join Mom and now they are together again.
Ray was born in Fort Morgan, Colorado, to Adam and Hattie Meininger. He attended Central Grade School through sixth grade. The family moved to Brush, Colorado, where Ray attended seventh and eighth grade at Morey Country School. He rode his saddle horse to and from school because there was no bus service. He then attended Brush High School where he graduated in 1948.
Raymond worked on the family farm for three years, and then served in the US Navy from 1951 through 1954. In January, 1955 he met the love of his life, Peggy Grace Blake, and they were married on September 11, 1955.
He is survived by his sons, Mike Meininger, of Silverthorne, and Brad (Bette) Meininger, of Grand Junction, and daughter, Melody (Leonard) Charles, of Fruita. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild on the way, and sister, Louise Shilling, of Loveland, Colorado.
His parents; two brothers; one sister; two grandsons, and wonderful wife predeceased him.
Ray loved to dance, watch the Broncos, golf, and most of all he enjoyed his family.
Memorial services will be conducted at the First United Methodist Church, 522 White Ave., 2:00 p.m., May 12, 2021. Visitation was held May 11, 2021. A private family interment will precede the memorial service at Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the First United Methodist Church, 522 White Ave., Grand Junction, CO 81501, in his memory.
