Raymond Oellrich Obituary

Raymond "Ray" Oellrich

October 30, 1941 - December 15, 2020

Raymond "Ray" Oellrich passed away at St. Mary's Hospital on December 15, 2020, from heart complications.

Ray was born October 30, 1941, in Livingston, WI, to Rufus and Geneva (Jones) Oellrich. Ray had three siblings, John, Irvin, and Charlotte. In high school Ray was part of the Track and Field team and held the record for High Jump (until last year) in Platteville, WI. He graduated high school early and joined the Air Force, serving two tours in Viet Nam and was honorably discharged. Upon returning home he married Audrey; they had two girls, Maurine and Kerry, they later divorced.

Ray considered himself a jack of all trades. He was working in Alaska when he met his wife and best friend, Irene. He continued to work hard and purchased American Office Equipment, which he owned and operated. They moved a few times for his work and then settled in Grand Junction. After retiring and selling his business, he studied and became a Real Estate Broker creating R.O.I. Development, LLC. Ray purchased land in Fruita, CO, and developed Evening Breeze Subdivision.

He enjoyed vintage cars, car shows and traveling; he and Irene took many memorable trips.

Ray was deeply love and will be greatly missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Geneva, and sister, Charlotte Reynolds. He is survived by wife, Irene; brothers, John (Annette) Oellrich, and Irvin (Peg) Oellrich; daughters, Maurine (Bob) Comings, and Kerry (Mark) Derrick; grandchildren, Alex (Lynzee) Godfery, Lindsey (Clark) Johanson, Kayla Comings, Ryann Derrick, and Mackenzie Derrick; great-grandchildren, Kayden, Kiara, Alliegh and Karoline, and great-niece Tara Haller whom he took under his wings.

Services will be held at a later date.
