Robert G. Gustafson

Robert G. "Gus" Gustafson June 11, 1929 – July 22, 2013 Robert G. "Gus" Gustafson was born June 11, 1929, in Anaconda, MT to Edell Roberts and George Gustafson and died July 22, 2013 at Hospice. After his parents divorced he moved with his brother and mother to San Jose, CA. He graduated from San Jose State with a BA in Geography. After 21 months in the Army in Colorado Springs he went to work at the Geological Survey as a cartographer. He met his future wife, Nancy Shrader at the survey and they married September 8, 1961. They lived in Golden, CO for 37 years. They loved to camp, fish, and backpack. They also went to all 50 states, Canada and Mexico in order to expand their life bird lists. They enjoyed all forms of professional baseball & went to both pro and semi-pro games. After retirement they moved to Palisade in 1993, and started enjoying the Bulldogs. They especially liked baseball and girls volleyball and basketball. Bob was also interested in all forms of trivia and Sunday x-word puzzles and when traveling would check out the local papers for the sports news and x-words. He is survived by his brother, Ed of San Jose, CA; nephew, Steven; niece, Carrielin, and siblings of his wife, Nancy, who passed away in 2007. Memorial services will be Monday, July 29 at 1:00 p.m. at Palisade Church of the Nazarene. In lieu of flowers, send donations to Hope West & Hospice, 3090B N. 12th St., Grand Junction, CO 81506.
