Roland Lee Averill
July 29, 1936 - April 4, 2016
Roland Lee Averill "Rollie" died peacefully at HopeWest Hospice on April 4, 2016, in Grand Junction, CO at the age of 79.
Rollie is survived by his caring companion, Darla Butler; children, Darcie (Dennis) Kahila of Livingston, MT; Doreen (Jeff) Smith of Orem, UT; Randy (Kathy) Averill of Vernal, UT; sister, Virginia Brown; brother, Wayne Averill; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Lila (Stoker) Averill, and by many other family members.
Rollie was born on July 29, 1936, in Scottsbluff, NB to Bert and Gladys Averill. He graduated from Central High School, Grand Junction, CO. He lived for 19 years in Jeffrey City, WY working as a Metallurgist/Chief Chemist for Western Nuclear/Philips Dodge.
Rollie enjoyed the monthly luncheons with classmates, evening rides, fishing and spending time with family. He will be greatly missed by all that have known him.
He was laid to rest in Memorial Gardens, Grand Junction, CO. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
The family would like to thank the staff of HopeWest for the care and compassion shown to Rollie and his family during this difficult time. Donation can be made in his name to HopeWest Hospice, 3090B North 12th Street, Grand Junction, CO 81506.
