Sally Morgan-Martin-Wood Obituary

Sally Morgan-Martin-Wood
September 4, 1922– January 15, 2013

Sally passed on the morning of January 15th 2013 in her home in Clifton due to natural causes.
She was born to Harry and Frieda Schwartz as the younger sister to Leonard J. "Lenny" Schwartz in Bronx, New York. Sally spent her childhood in New York City never far behind Lenny.
Sally joined the United States Navy W.A.V.E.S. during WWII. During that time she met and married Wright J. Morgan Jr. They later divorced. Their marriage yielded five children: Kris Fancher, Jeannie Alvin, Wright "Jim" Morgan III, Donald (Vio) Morgan, and Timothy (Lynn) Morgan. Sally never gave up on finding love. She later went on to marry Mel Reser and Marion "Mert" Martin before she met and married Leland "Woody" Wood in 1984.
Sally earned her BA in Liberal Arts from Denver University in 1950 and became a teacher. Sally was instrumental in the founding of "Head Start" in Colorado.
After a few other careers she started "The Singles Trumpet" newspaper, which she was the owner and publisher of. Sally spent time living all over the U.S. moving between Denver, California, Texas, Oregon, and New Mexico before coming to Clifton.
Sally was a long time member of the "Red Hats" and always loved company. She had a lifetime passion for writing and painting. Sally was a friend to everyone she met and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her children, Kris Fancher (NV), and Jeannie Alvin (Panama), Donald Morgan (WA), and Tim Morgan (CO), 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, as well as countless friends from all over. She is preceded in death by her brother, Lenny Schwartz; her son, Wright "Jim" James Morgan III; husband Woody; and all previous husbands.
There will be a remembrance for Sally's amazing life of 90 years on January 20th at 1:00 PM at the Midlands Village Clubhouse 435 32 Rd Clifton Co. All who knew Sally are welcome to come. Memorials may be made to The Sally Martin-Wood Memorial Fund at Coloramo Credit Union .
