Sue Fennell Obituary

Sue Parker Fennell August 22, 1934 - February 24, 2009 Sue passed away February 24 after a short illness. Sue was born in Grand Junction to Alta and Harvey Parker. She attended Grand Junction High School. When she was 17, in 1951, Sue was in an auto accident that left her a paraplegic. She knew she had two choices, give up or go on and live her life. She chose the latter. She married Bud Fennell on July 12, 1957. Since no one told her she couldn't she went ahead and had four children. After her kids were raised, she went to work full time at Darnell optical and Mountain states optical. She was named employee of the year in 1994. Sue was a great cook and house keeper, taking wonderful care of everyone she knew. She enjoyed reading, her family, and her husband, Bud's flowers. She was an inspiration and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. She is survived by Bud; her children, Chuck and Dianne Fennell, Alette Watkins, Kari Fennell, and Buddy and Dawn Fennell; two brothers, Byron "Mudge" Parker, and Sam Parker. She had 13 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and four siblings, Harvey, Austin, Russell, and Alta Marie. A celebration of Sue's life will be held at Bud and Sue's house, Friday, February 27 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Western Colorado.

Momma,

It's been one year now since you left us. There is not a day that goes by that I don't think about you.

I've been thinking a lot about Mom lately. Chuck called the other night to make sure someone knew how to make Mom's pancakes (which I do). I made some for Daddy the other night and that made me think of when we were kids. Linda and Jeffey would want to stay the night with us every Friday night. I thought it was because they wanted to spend time with me, but I've come to realize it was because every Saturday morning Mom would make us Teddy Bear Hotcakes. She made the best pancakes in the world. When Kala was little, Mom was very creative for a while and made her all kinds of different shapes. When she ran out of ideas she would put 3 or 4 blobs of batter in the pan and sped them around. "Kala, come see what I made you" Mom would say. Kala would crawl up on Mom's chair and say "A Dragon Grandma,or a butterfly Grandma thank you!" Mom would say "Yep your right". She sure knew how to make that baby happy!

It's been a month since you've been free
We're doing our best, daddy and me
We talk to you daily, for our own piece of mind
Your our soul, our rock, our one of a kind
We brought you flowers from daddy's garden today
We arranged them our best, I hope their ok
Oh Mama, we miss you so much
What we wouldn't give for just one more touch
So we kiss you three times on your forehead with love
Please hep us and guide us, with love from above.
I Love You So Much,
Kari

Mom,
You were one of the strongest people I will ever know. You gave everyone around you strength. Your love of your children and family will always be unmatched. Even though you never thought so, you are mine and many others, inspiration in life. You passing leaves a huge hole in many hearts. Our only solace is that you are no longer in pain. I know you are dancing with your daddy and your brothers, and that bring me great joy. I love you with all of my heart and look forward to the day I will see you again.
