Vada Hill Obituary

Vada Sherwood Hill January 15, 1924 – September 7, 2012 Vada M. Hill died September 7, 2012. She was born October 15, 1924, in Rifle, the daughter of Freeman Leslie Sherwood and Louisa Helm Sherwood. Vada married James M. "Jimmie" Hill on February 7, 1944, in Denver. She was a homemaker in the home which she and Jimmie built themselves in 1947, and lived there for over 60 years. She and Jimmie worked very hard planting, raising, harvesting, canning, and freezing vegetables and fruit from their large garden and orchard while raising three children. She was a loving mother and spent her life caring for her family. Vada was the lunchroom supervisor at Esma Lewis Elementary School in Rifle for 23 years. Vada and Jimmie worked hard, and they played hard. They did a lot of camping and traveled in their motor home to every state in the United States, except three. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Janice (Donald) Guffy of Craig; sons, Rocky (Richelle) Hill of Pueblo, and Jerry (Adrienne) Hill of Grand Junction; grandchildren, Shahn Guffy, Sara Hill, Sandy (Jason) Raley, and Halley Hill; niece, Patricia (Ed) Perryman; nephews, Don (Beth) Record-Fulton and David (Paula) Sarno. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, and brother. Interment is on Tuesday, September 11, at 1:00 p.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery in Rifle.
