William Blevins Obituary

William Lawrence "Bill" Blevins October 5, 1930 - September 13, 2024 William Lawrence "Bill" Blevins, a devoted family man and longtime resident of Grand Junction, passed away on September 13, 2024, at the age of 93. He was born in Grand Junction on October 5, 1930, to Willis and Lotus Blevins.

Bill was active in 4-H and graduated from Grand Junction High School in 1949. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955 during the Korean War, earning several medals for his service.

On October 28, 1951, Bill married the love of his life, Margaret Bilbrey. They were blessed with four daughters: Charlene (Glenn Gardner), Connie (Daniel Tyree), Lori (Mike Rogers), and Karen (Bill Achilles). Their family grew to include 12 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

For 27 years, Bill worked for the Mesa County Road Department. He was an active member of Pear Park Baptist Church and Galilee Baptist Church, where he held various leadership roles.

Bill loved fishing, camping, and four-wheeling. Known for his kind heart and infectious humor, he touched countless lives.

Preceded in death by his parents and sisters Wilda Ray and Verla Carthel, Bill leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and laughter.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Pear Park Baptist Church Friday, September 20, 2024, at 10:30 am, followed by an Honors Ceremony at Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 1:00 pm.

I have known Bill since I was a small child. He is my cousin and we have watched him grow in many ways. He was always friendly. When my parents came to visit his Mom and Dad, we would usually have a nice dinner and then the parents would play Pinochle while us kids played rummy or monopoly. They had a peach orchard on the Redlands and he was always working hard.

I don't live in Grand Junction now, but we go there when we can, and we liked to meet with Margaret and Bill and go over the "the good old times"
Margaret and Bill were always loyal and loved each other and he will be missed, I am sure, but he will be in a better place. Margaret I hope you are ok and my heart is with you.
Wish I could be there.
