Robert McGeoghegan Obituary


A graveside memorial service was held Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at the Willows Catholic Cemetery for longtime Delevan resident, Bob McGeoghegan, 96, who passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at Enloe Hospital in Chico.

Bob was born September 2, 1926, in Willows, CA, to Paul and Dorathea McGeoghegan. He attended Maxwell schools, graduating from Maxwell High School in 1944. He was a member of the 1943 Maxwell High School Championship Baseball Team, which was inducted into the Colusa County Sports Hall of Fame, in 2010.

Bob served in the United States Navy in the Pacific through the end of World War II. He was a lifetime farmer and rancher, as well as being an accomplished machinist and talented metal fabricator. He was an avid sportsman, and spent as much time as he could hunting and fishing with family and friends.

Bob was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Maxwell and St. Monica's Catholic Church in Willows. He belonged to the American Legion - Vernon Jewel Danley Post 218 in Maxwell.

Bob is survived by his children: Brad (Kim) McGeoghegan of Willows, Doug McGeoghegan of Colusa, Neal McGeoghegan of Willows, and Babette (Steve) Burns of Oakdale; grandchildren: Caitlin Butler, Kelly McNeil, and Casey McGrew; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Dayna McGeoghagen.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Maxwell American Legion, Vernon Jewel Danley Post 218, PO Box 665, Maxwell, CA 95955.
