Sandra Monahan Obituary

Glens Falls - Sandra S. Monahan, 74, died in her Glens Falls home on October 9, 2025. She was born in Sterling, Colorado. After graduating from St. Anthony's School, she earned a Bachelor's Degree from Fort Lewis College in Durango. Sandra met her husband Robert in Torrington, Wyoming while working at St. Joseph's Children's Home. After marrying in 1977, the couple moved to Glens Falls, where they raised a son and a daughter.

As a Head Start Director, Sandra supported early childhood education and family development. She later served as an administrator at Hallmark Nursing Centre, where her leadership and empathy made her a dedicated advocate for residents. Her faithful service to the Church of St. Mary's/St. Paul's in Hudson Falls embraced families through religious education and confirmation preparation.

In retirement, Sandra enjoyed walks with Bob along the Hudson River and Feeder Canal as well as sewing, quilting, cooking and reading. Spending time with her granddaughters was her greatest joy.

Sandra was predeceased by her parents Art and Evelyn, and siblings, Gordon and Sharon. Yesterday

Dear Bob, Matt, Jill and family, I was so saddened to read of Sandy´s passing this morning. She was a wonderful wife and mother who loved her family and her adopted community -- and she will be missed terribly by you all. My thoughts and prayers are with you during the difficult days ahead. Unfortunately i am in Tennessee for this week visiting carolyn, luke and families --and unable to attend her funeral. Sincerely, Betty
