Sharon Lee Luce

Sharon Lee (Gauthier) Luce, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and known as "Mama Luce" to the YOUTHEATRE community, passed away peacefully at home on October 6, 2025, surrounded by her family.

Sharon was born on August 11, 1942, in Saranac Lake to Eldred and Ila Gauthier, and grew up with her younger brother, Eldred. She met and fell in love with her high school sweetheart, Mickey Luce, and they were married on June 12, 1965. Together they built a family, and she became a loving mother to four daughters. She extended those maternal instincts into her career as a paraprofessional at BOCES for twenty years. One of her most cherished achievements, however, was her role as "Mama Luce" in more than 40 years as the cofounder of YOUTHEATRE.

Sharon loved spending time with her grandchildren, tending to her yard and gardens, and enjoying the beauty of her home. Nothing gave her greater joy than swinging in her egg chair on her screened porch, watching the birds, especially the cardinals.

Sharon is survived by her husband of sixty years, Mickey; and her children, Piper Cohen and her husband, Harold Cohen, Logan Fisher, Amity Luce, and Lanni Luce West and her husband, Paul West. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren, Lane, Gage, and Bryn Cohen, Aidan and Gannan Wright, Ila Fisher, and Laken Luce-Aurilio.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Sharon's name to one of the following organizations: North Country Ministries, Glens Falls Open Door, or the American Cancer Society.
