William Brown Obituary

William R. Brown, 61, of Queensbury, passed away December 11th after a long battle with liver and kidney disease.
He was born in Niskayuna N.Y. on June 27, 1962, to Robert I. Brown and Suzanne M. Brown. Bill grew up in Orange County N.Y. where he attended Middletown High School.
As a child, Bill and his family spent many happy days at their grandparents' home in Northville. He eventually made the Adirondacks his home and spent time with family and friends camping, fishing, and boating on Lake Sacandaga, Lake George, and Schroon Lake. He also enjoyed time with his daughter Kristin and her family on their farm in Virginia. He loved fast cars, loud music and his four cats.
A long-time resident of Queensbury, Bill was the proud owner of Star Canvas Boat Covers in Glens Falls N.Y., established in 1997. Bill was happiest at his shop. He loved his work and loved his customers. A special thanks to Pete and Zach for holding down the fort during his absence.
Bill is predeceased by his long-time partner Betty Wight. Those left to cherish his memory include his Mother Sue Brown of Northville NY, his loving daughter Kristen Brown and son-in-law Kirk Haarklau, grandchildren Adelie and Ariah, his sister Nancy Sharp and husband Patrick, his brother Tom Brown and wife Gretchen, and brother Chris Brown, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of a service, the family will be holding a Celebration of Life later in the year.
As a two-time organ recipient, Bill's family would like to extend their sincerest thanks and gratitude to the donor families, and to the Dialysis Center in Glenns Falls, and the Transplant team at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York City. He would urge all of us to consider becoming donors ourselves. Please visit LiveOnNY.org to learn more about how you can help.
Bill will be remembered for his bigger-than-life personality, his generosity, and his strong will to live despite the remarkable odds against him.
May He Rest in Peace.

Bill took me in when I needed work as a young man, I'll never forget the days spent at the shop. I went to find Bill and reconnect, only to find he never saw 2024. Bill was generous, cared about the people around him, and wore his heart on his sleeve. Things wre, and are, never perfect, but Bill found joy in finding his own way through the madness. RIP Bill, I will continue telling everyone about you. Reast Easy
