William Field Obituary

With heavy hearts but immense gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of William "Bill" Riddell Field, who left this world on February 25, 2025, at the age of 89. A devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and cherished friend, Bill's life was a testament to the power of love, family, and service.

Born on February 17, 1936, in Middleburg, NY, to Dr. Lincoln and Jane Field, Bill was raised with strong values of integrity and kindness. After attending Middleburg schools, he served his country for two years in the U.S. Army before earning his Bachelor of Science in Business from the University of Louisville. His professional career spanned 32 years at INA/CIGNA, where he was known for his dedication and strong work ethic.

In 1963, Bill married the love of his life, Nancy Hughes, beginning a beautiful 61-year journey together. Their greatest joy was the family they built-a legacy of love that will continue through their children: Lincoln (Pia), Jill (Ed Lowell, Jr.), and Garth (Stephanie). He was a proud and doting grandfather to Tyler (Jillian), Brayden, Lincoln, Jack, and Caroline, and welcomed a great-granddaughter, Callie Field.

Bill's love of family extended beyond his immediate circle. He has a younger sister, Rebecca Holden (Herbert), and shared a deep bond with his late sister, Treva Brown (Ed). He also cherished his fraternal nephew and niece, Ken Brown and Rebecca Robertson, and their families, as well as his godson, Ryan Hughes. Bill is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Throughout his life, Bill believed in the power of giving back. Whether in Glens Falls, NY, or Venice, FL, he dedicated his time to volunteering at Lifeline and local hospitals, always offering a helping hand and a kind word. His compassion and commitment to service left a lasting impact on his community.

After retiring, Bill and Nancy embraced their love of travel, exploring the world together and creating countless cherished memories. But no matter where life took him, Bill's heart always remained with his family and his loyal Labrador companions. His most recent four-legged friend,

Jane, was by his side in his later years, a testament to his lifelong love for dogs.

Bill's warmth, humor, and unwavering love will be missed but never forgotten. His legacy lives on in the family he nurtured, the friendships he treasured, and the kindness he shared with the world.

Burial will be private at the request of family at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.

A celebration of Bill's life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor a life well lived.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA, 22116-7023.

Rest easy, Bill. Your love and laughter will forever echo in our hearts.

Condolences may be sent directly to Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804, or through www.bakerfuneralhome.com.
