Barbara Gallogly Obituary

MASON CITY - Barbara J. Gallogly, 81, of Mason City, died Friday Dec. 16, 2011, at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason city, surrounded by her family.
A memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 19, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 302 Fifth St. S.E., Mason City, with the Rev. Craig E. Steimel as Celebrant. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City.
Visitation will be held from 3 until 5 p.m. today, Sunday, Dec. 18, at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., Mason City, where a Knights of Columbus Rosary will be recited at 5 p.m. followed by a Scriptural Wake service.
Should friends desire and in lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to Hospice of North Iowa or St. Joseph Catholic Church in Barbara's name.
Barbara J. Kelley was born on July 27, 1930, in Mason City, the daughter of James and Barbara C. (Jansen) Kelley. She attended St. Joseph Catholic School in Mason City and graduated amongst the Class of 1948.
On Feb. 16, 1952 Barbara was united in marriage to L. Gene Gallogly in Mason City; this union would be blessed with four children.
For many years Barbara enjoyed traveling with and listening to Gene's Barbershop Quartet groups, the Astronaughts, Midwest Four, and the Buffalo Chips. She also liked playing the piano, bowling for the Knights of Columbus mixed league, doing needlework, attending many different community events and activities with the Women's Club, and the occasional trip to a casino.
In 1970, Barbara began working as a switchboard operator for Park Hospital, which would later merge with Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, until her retirement. In the years following retirement, Barb spent countless hours volunteering for Mercy Medical Center, St. Joseph Catholic School, St. Joseph Catholic church and numerous other organizations.
Barb was devoted to her family and her faith. She cherished every moment she was able to spend with her husband, children, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren. She would travel near and far to watch and support her grandchildren in their musical and athletic activities.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Leo Rose Circle, Mercy Hospital Auxiliary, Women's Club, and Parish Life Society.
Those grateful in sharing in Barbara's life are her husband, Gene; children, Ralph (Peijan) Gallogly, Ewa Beach, Hawaii, Barb (Dr. Stuart Turner) Gallogly-Turner, Madison, Wis., Jeff (Jean) Gallogly, Vincent, and Beth (Tom) Bonner, North Liberty; her grandchildren, Heather, Brett, Brenna, Jeffery, Daniel, Spence, Reid, and Mackenzie; her great-grandchildren, Ravyen, Devin, and Jaden; as well as many nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Patricia Baldwin and Virginia Brackey; brothers, John, Richard, and Paul Kelley; and a grandson, John Richard Gallogly.

To the Gallogly Family, I'm sorry to hear your Wife and Mom had to leave you when she loved you all so much. She was a very sweet, fun lady. Those of us who have had the privelage of truely great Mothers are blessed. Barbara will live on thru all of you and the parents you are to your children and grandchildren. Gene,you and Barbara were such a great couple, I hope those memories will help bring a smile to your lips and help to dry your tears.
