James Gallogly Obituary
James Arthur Gallogly, 63, passed away July 5, 2024 in Bedford, VA. He was a beloved father, brother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Jim was born on September 16, 1960, to James Merle Gallogly and Gladys Mary (Buffam) Gallogly in Flint, MI. He grew up in Fenton, MI and Daytona, FL. He attended Linden High School in Linden, MI and graduated in 1978. Following graduation, Jim attended Spring Arbor University. During that time, he joined Free Spirit, a traveling Christian spiritual and gospel band through the Free Methodist Church. He met his wife, Christina Faye Gallogly (divorced April 2019) while performing with Free Spirit. He returned to coursework in business at Spring Arbor University and graduated in 1984. As his next endeavor, Jim joined the Billy Graham Crusades, working on the Amsterdam, Netherlands and Columbia, South Carolina crusades. When he finished with the Crusades, he joined John Hancock in Columbia, SC. His career took him to Des Moines and Kansas City and he owned franchises in Iowa, Nebraska, Colorado, Kansas, and Missouri for the remainder of his career. Additionally, he served on the Board of Directors for his alma mater, Spring Arbor University, from 2006 to 2018. Beyond work, Jim enjoyed many things in life, including golf, good company and gourmet cooking, especially a good steak.
Throughout his life, Jim was a follower of Jesus Christ. He committed his life to Christ as a child, and sought to do the Lord's Will through music, education and his career. Although he was diagnosed with Stage IV Colon Cancer in 2019, his faith never wavered. He continued to trust in the Lord's plan for him and his life. He cared deeply for his children and wanted them to know the Lord.
Jim is survived by his children: Jim (Libby) Gallogly of Lynchburg, VA and Jenna Gallogly of Chicago, IL; grandchildren: Anna and James Gallogly; and sisters: Janice Gallogly Chilcote and Joann (Brent) Gallogly Cryderman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Glady Gallogly, daughter, Cara Gallogly, and brother-in-law, Brent Chilcote.
A celebration of Jim's life will be held at The Arbor Church, 120 East Main Street, Spring Arbor, MI 49283 on Saturday, August 17, 2024. Visitation will be at 9:30am EST. The funeral will follow at 11:00am EST with Pastor Mark Van Valin officiating. Interment will take place at Spring Arbor Cemetery after the service.
