MASON CITY | Darlene A. Cory, 80, of Mason City died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2014, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with Chaplain Janet Dorenkamp of Hospice of North Iowa officiating.
There will be a gathering of family and friends one hour prior to the service.
Inurnment will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa, 232 Second St. S.E., Mason City, IA 50401.

Darlene Ann Johnson was born April 15, 1934, in Fertile, the daughter of Amos and Myrta (Robb) Johnson. She attended school in Manly and later Monroe School in Mason City. Darlene was united in marriage to Ernest Cory on April 14, 1951, in Waterloo. Over the years Darlene sold Avon and worked at McDonalds. She enjoyed spending time with her family – especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed dancing with her husband, cooking, gardening and wintering in Texas (for the past 22 years). Darlene was a member of the VFW Auxiliary (Mason City) and the Red Hat Society (Texas).
Darlene is survived by her husband of 63 years: Ernest Cory of Mason City; two children: Linda (Charles) Forthmann of Mason City and Diane (Randy) Williams of Mason City; five grandchildren: Michael (Karen) Forthmann, Jennifer (Tom) Gunderson, Jessica (Nick Smith) Cornett, Kaysie (Kenny King ) Williams, and Eric (Kelsey) Williams; six great-grandchildren: Blake Forthmann, Bailey Gunderson, Sam Smith, Kaleb King, Rooney Williams, Libby Smith, and one on the way; a sister: Marilyn Barnett of Waterloo; three sisters-in-law: Gwen Cory of Mason City, Elberta (John) Crowe of Mason City, and Marge Cory Wright of Fairfield Bay, AR.
She was preceded in death by her parents and eight siblings.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Good Shepherd Health Center and Hospice of North Iowa for taking such wonderful care of Darlene.
