Donna Meyer Obituary

Donna M. Meyer

December 12, 1937 - September 16, 2025

Donna M. Meyer, age 87, of Mason City, went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 26, 2025, at St. James Lutheran Church, 1148 4th St SE. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N Pennsylvania Ave. She will be laid to rest beside her husband, Ed, of 54 years at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials can be directed to the family of Donna Meyer.

Donna was born on December 12, 1937, in Mason City, the daughter of Walter and Lydia (Beisel) Muhlstein. She graduated from Mason City High School in 1955 and attended La James Beauty School. After beginning her career at Florimel Beauty Salon, she later operated her own shop out of her home, where she served family and friends for many years.

In her younger years, Donna enjoyed bowling in a local league. On October 10, 1959, she married the love of her life, Ed Meyer. Together, they built their home in 1961, where they raised their family and created a lifetime of memories. For 22 years, Donna and Ed spent winters in Arizona, cherishing the sunshine and the friendships they made there. They were active members of the American Legion in Manly.

Donna and her sister, Dixie Harris, shared a special bond. Along with their husbands, Ed and Chuck, the sisters enjoyed many travels together. Mondays often found Donna at lunch with Dixie and their dear friends Joann, Hank, and Eileen. She and Dixie especially loved their gambling trips and countless coffee chats.

Family was always at the heart of Donna's life. She and Ed faithfully attended their grandchildren's concerts, sporting events, and other activities. After Ed's passing in 2014, Donna treasured the time she spent with her children and grandchildren even more deeply and will be remembered for her love of family.

Donna is survived by her children: Todd (Charissa) Meyer of Mason City, Traci (Michael) Krause of Springfield, Illinois, and Tom (Deb Malek) Meyer of Mason City; her grandchildren: Alex (Kaylee) Meyer; Jackson, Harrison, and Tyler Krause; Elizabeth, Hillary, Kaylee, and Carter Meyer; and Madison (Joe) Van Hulle; and her great-grandchildren: Griffin, Elsie, Aubree, Owen, and Mara.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ed; her parents, Walter and Lydia Muhlstein; her sisters, Dixie (Chuck) Harris and Darlene Muhlstein; and her brothers, Chunk (Mokey) Muhlstein, Don (Sharon) Muhlstein, and Rich Muhlstein.

She will be dearly missed as a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.
