MASON CITY | Duane Fibelstad, 80, of Mason City, passed away peacefully Tuesday (February 3, 2015) at Good Shepherd Health Care Center in Mason City.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday (February 9, 2015) at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapels, 126 3rd Street N.E., Mason City, with Rev. Kathy Graves officiating, also with full military honors.
Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.
Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. on Monday (February 9, 2015) at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapels, 126 3rd Street N.E., Mason City, 641-243-2372. www.colonialchapels.com.

Duane Fibelstad was born in Albert Lea, MN, on April 11, 1934, to Clarence and Florence (Runquist) Fibelstad.
Duane served in the Korean war. Following this he married Betty Schleiffarth on March 11, 1956, in Belmond, Iowa, and in this union had three children.
He worked for IDSO from 1960 to 1966, Fareway from 1960 to 1980, drove for the Mason City Transit and retired in 2009, also volunteered his time and drove the veterans around for the VA.
Duane worked two jobs most of his life and helped out friends and family members who needed help with small projects. Duane enjoyed playing cards, spending time with family and friends and watching western movies.
He is a lifelong member of the VFW and Trinity Lutheran Church.
Duane is survived by his wife, Betty Fibelstad; sons, Dale (Marie) Fibelstad of Storm Lake; Wayne (Joella) Fibelstad of Mason City; Alan (Linda) Fibelstad of Mason City; two brothers, Larry (Arloue) Fibelstad of Minatare NE; Ken (Konnie) Legried of Parker, CO; step-brother, Omer (Vivian) Legried of Quincy, IL; step-sister, Levin Bennett of Lansing, MI; three grandchildren, Anthony Alitz; Dylan Alitz and Brittany Crial; great-grandchildren, Ronnie Alitz and Kasstial Alitz.
Duane is preceded in death by his parents, step-brother, Clemens Legried; Darryl Legried; step-sister, Bonna Woodwick.
