Earldean Buttjer Obituary

LOMBARD, Ill. - Earldean E. Buttjer of Lombard, Ill., went to be with the Lord on April 26, 2007, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Lombard.

A memorial service for Earldean will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 5, at the New Hope United Methodist Church in Aredale.

Inurnment will be in Dumont Cemetery in Dumont in the family plot. Honorary pallbearers will be Layton Woodley, Terry Woodley, David Woodley, Lee Burak and Dick Minnier, Lavern Buttjer.

Earldean was born on April 10, 1944, to Earl and Eleanor (Brattrud) Buttjer. He attended Greene Community School where he was in band, mixed chorus and solo. He lived in the Aredale and Dougherty area and was a member of EUB Church and youth fellowship. He also was in 4-H. He played baseball and football, winning a full scholarship to Upper Iowa University at Fayette. He graduated on May 29, 1962 with degrees in business administration and sociology.

He belonged to the Letterman's Club and Future Businessmen of America.

Earldean married Shelley Spinning of Glenview, Ill., on Jan. 30, 1966 in Fayette at the First Methodist Church. To this union, four children were born: sons, Jon and Jim and daughters, Sara and Dana.

They lived in Illinois, where Earldean owned his own business of executive management, all their married life.

His special joys were his wife, children and grandchildren. He always enjoyed their family get-togethers and he will be sadly missed by all.

Earldean also enjoyed playing golf, baseball, football, 500, Texas Hold-'em and coaching Little League Baseball.

He was a member of the Methodist Church in Lombard and participated in many church activities. He was a charter member of West Town Chorus and the Great American Chorus.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Shelley; sons, Jon and Jim; daughters, Dana (Ken) Dow and Sara Buttjer; grandchildren, Sara, Faith and Abigail Dow and Joshua Buttjer; sister, Shirley Buttjer Harmon, Altoona; mother, Eleanor Buttjer of Mason City and many cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; father, Earl, in 1984; aunts and uncles.

I am so sorry to hear of Earldean's passing. He and I graduated from Greene High School together. He was a good friend and fun to be around. I'm sorry I had not had the opportunity to see him in recent years. May you always cherish your memories.
