Jasmine Barrientes Obituary
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, May 5, at First United Methodist Church, 119 S. Georgia, Mason City. Officiating will be the Rev. Michael Daley of New Life Tabernacle Church and the Rev. Jim Stiles of First United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. with a special time for classmates to join the family from 3-5 p.m. Wednesday at Fullerton Funeral Home. Interment will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City.
Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Jasmine J. Barrientes Memorial Fund. Condolences may be shared with the family at the funeral home website of www.Fullertonfh.com.
Jasmine was born on Nov. 25, 1995 the daughter of Jr. "Jacinto" Barrientes and Jessica Kohler. She was currently in the ninth grade class of 2014 at Mason City High School.
Jasmine loved life and was on a mission to make sure all those around her enjoyed every moment of it just as much as she did. She was feisty and sassy, which made her playful and exciting to be around.
Jasmine would jump at the chance to give a friend some much-needed advice and loved helping others. She was remarkable - a young humanitarian in the making.
Jasmine was the best big sister anyone could ask for and shared an incredible bond with her younger siblings Jessie and Jadyn, her older brothers Alex and Cinto and all her wonderful cousins.
Jasmine had a brightness all around her that made people feel good. Her sense of humor was uplifting and adored by everyone who knew her. Jasmine loved her teenage years and being a part of all her friends' lives.
A true "Daddy's girl," she enjoyed fashion, music, cooking lasagna with Mom, being outside and taking family trips to Missouri, Minnesota and Colorado. Her kind smile, joyous spirit and generous heart will live on forever in the memory of her family and friends.
Jasmine is survived by her mother, Jessica Kohler, and father, Jr. Barrientes, both of Mason City; her siblings, Alex (Frances) Suhr-Barrientes, Cinto, Jessie and Jadyn Barrientes; niece and nephews, Jacob, Benjamin, and Alexa Suhr-Barrientes; maternal Grandparents Mike and Linda Kohler; Paternal Grandmother Mary Ellen Barrientes; Maternal Great-Grandmother Elizabeth Kohler; Maternal Aunt Britton (Corby) Cronin; Maternal Uncle Lance Kohler; Paternal Uncles Jay and Jonathon Barrientes; Uncle Danny (Irene) Bonorden; cousins Leighton Cronin, Mikaila and Landon Kohler, Janelle (Marshall) Huffman, Nasaria and Seneca Huffman, Taylor, Aleah Barrientes, Maya Barrientes, Jerusa, Fina, Janessa and Jaykyia Bonorden, Vanessa Johnson. Special Friends Aunt Nycole Rubish, Kari Roderick, Darryl and Rosie Isaacson, AuntYolanda Denhart, Amber Haag (Denon), Luie and Justyn, Justin Perez, Megan Haag, Renee Perez, Bryce Foster, Jill Hjelle and Bobbie Kohler.
Her Maternal Great Grandfather Lawrence Kohler, Paternal Grandfather Jacinto Barrientes Sr. and Uncle Jessie James Barrientes preceded her in death.

We are so very sorry for your loss. We are so thankful that we got to know her for a short time this past summer going to the river rafting, she was an amazing girl, even tho it was raining and we couldn't even get a fire going to cook hot dogs, she smiled the whole time, freezing cold, she was ready to go again! Jasmine was a wonderful person,she had a great personality and always had a smile on her face. She did not care what others thought and she spoke her mind when she wanted to. Me and jasmine were in school together all throught out elementary school and we had so much fun in girl scouts.Then we grew up and moved away from each other. I wish that had never happened.
