Jason Daniel Mennen was born on Jan. 31, 1985, at Mercy Medical Center in Mason City. He was the second of three sons born to Gordon J. and Vickie K. (Jass) Mennen.

Jason was baptized and recently confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Mason City, where he was a member.

Jason was employed at Fareway Stores, Inc. as a stocker/checker for the past four years and was a graduate among the class of 2003 at Mason City High School. He had plans to begin classes at North Iowa Area Community College this week.

Jason treasured spending time outdoors during his leisure time. He enjoyed fishing, riding his motorcycle and cruising in his Z-28 Camaro. He found great pleasure in listening to music, time spent on his computer and watching football. Jason was currently learning to play the keyboard/piano.

Jason will be dearly missed by family and friends who have shared in his life.

He is survived by his parents, Gordon and Vickie Mennen; and his two brothers, Mike and Robby Mennen, all of Mason City; his grandparents, Gordon and Patricia Mennen of Mason City and Gary and Arlene Jass of Garner. Numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends will also sadly miss Jason.

Preceding Jason in death is his uncle, Randy Jass.

MenDog was a great guy with the best of both worlds a Camaro and a way cool bike. I will always remember how he would always get mad when he came over to look at my camaro, because of how cool he thought it was. So Jason and I talked and agreed that we would both work on fixing his camaro up to be an even cooler car. I and a lot of other people will miss him, and won't let his memory rest. God held him in his arms during his life on earth to his on going life in heaven.

I am so glad I had the opportunity to get to know Jason. I want to say thank you to Jason for being there to help my sister when I could not. For giving her a reason to live life even when life was not fair. You have no idea the imprint you left in her heart and mine. Thank you to Jason's parents for the man they raised. Our thoughts are with his family now and for a long time to come.
