John Camp Obituary

John William Camp

May 22, 1950---October 27, 2017

John Camp, 67, of Jefferson passed away Friday at OHSU after a brief but fierce battle with acute myeloid leukemia. Born in Forest City, Iowa to Dr. John R. and Jean (McIntyre) Camp, John attended Britt, Iowa High School. He graduated there in 1969 and earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He attended Upper Iowa University before transferring to Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa where he met his wife to be, Jeanne Meyer. They married on November 26, 1969 and together they moved to Montana where John graduated from Montana State University.

They lived in Bozeman and Great Falls Montana, and then Kenai, Alaska for 29 years before most recently moving to Jefferson in 2009. John worked for the Great Falls Police Department before changing careers, and geography, and worked for Conoco-Phillips Petroleum as an instrument technician in Alaska for several years.

John had a deep love for his wife, daughters, and grandchildren, and was a devoted son. He loved the outdoors, music, and had a deep faith in God. He was known for his epic gardening skills, gorgeous singing voice, hunting, fishing, and his incredible strength.

John is survived by his wife Jeanne; daughters Jennifer Snippen, Angela Miller, and Kathryn Bravo; father Dr. John R. Camp; sisters Susan Ferguson and Kathy Kopacek; and grandchildren Alexi Camp-Bravo, Cruz Bravo, Kali Bravo, Megan Miller, Samuel John Schindell, Kyle Miller, Koen John Schindell, and Shai Bravo. He was preceded in death by his mother Jean Camp.

A memorial service will be at 10am Thursday November 2nd at Hope Church (formerly 1st Assembly of God Church) in Albany. Contributions may be made to The Leukemia And Lymphoma Society or Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.) in care of Fisher Funeral Home, 306 SW Washington St., Albany, OR 97321.
