John was a life long truck drive for many companies throughout the region hauling everything from plywood, to sheetrock, hog slats and many other materials. He loved the freedom of the road and was very proficient at his profession.
John was born April 1, 1947, in Fort Dodge the son of Robert and Melba (Lange) Jones. He attended Humboldt Community Schools and served in the U.S. Navy during the Viet Nam era for a time.
He was united in marriage to Shirley Mae Trueblood for many years before they were divorced. The couple's union was blessed with daughter Jennifer and son John 'Kevin Jones. Several years later J.P and Christine Zieman met and formed a relationship that lasted 25 years until the time of J.P. death following a long battle with various health issues.
John Paul was avid outdoorsman the pulse of the outdoors and all that it had to offer, be it trapping, fishing, or spending a brisk and frosty morning on a marsh, lake, or river in pursuit one of his favorite passions of waterfowl hunting. He loved to introduce his children and grandchildren to the outdoors and all it's wonders, fishing trips to area lakes, Minnesota, and Canada. He was a bit on the Ornery side and of course stubborn to say the least. He loved to pick on and tease both friends and family and was always the story teller. He loved times spent in the presence of his many aunts and uncles. On the outside J.P may not have shown his love for family and life by through that gruff exterior he truly was soft hearted and very much loved them all dearly. John also loved his dogs and over the years if he was out and about one most certainly would see his sidekicks 'Boomer' and in more recent years 'Baby Doll' riding around 'Shotgun' at his side.
J.P. is survived by his long time companion Christine Zieman, Goodell, IA; and his children and their families: son, John 'Kevin' and wife Amanda Jones, and heir sons Drake and Tanner Jones all of Rolfe, and his daughter Jennifer Jones of Rolfe and her daughter Jessica Jones, Pocahontas; also Christine's kids Beth (Dane) Holmgaard and their children Connor, Caden, and Katrina Holmgaard all of Goodell, and Christine's son Jason (Michelle) Ziemann, Thornton, IA and their daughter Amarantha Zieman; along with other family and friends.
