Jonah Roggensack Obituary

September 16, 1994-July 1, 2018

OSAGE -- Jonah Robert Roggensack, age 23, of Arlington, Virginia, formerly of Osage, died July 1, 2018, in Arlington.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2018, at Sacred Heart Parish Hall in Osage with Father Raymond Burkle officiating. There will be a gathering of family and friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage with a Scripture Service at 7:30 p.m. On Monday, July 16, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. there will be a Memorial Service held at Fort Myer Military Base in Arlington, Virginia.

Jonah was born September 16, 1994, at Mason City, to Robert and Jane (Trumm) Roggensack. He was Baptized, made his First Communion and was Confirmed at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Jonah attended Sacred Heart Grade School through the sixth grade and Osage Community Schools graduating in 2013. He then attended NIACC in Mason City for two years. On June 8, 2018, he was united in marriage to Tami Richardson in Fairfax County, Virginia. Jonah was a Specialist in the U.S. Army, serving in the Honor Guard at Fort Myer in Arlington, Virginia. He was a member of Boy Scout Troop 1062 of Osage achieving the Eagle Scout Rank, and he was very proud of this accomplishment. Jonah enjoyed anything to do with the outdoors, biking, hiking, cross country skiing. He also had great interest in military history, especially the Civil War and WWII, in which both his grandfathers served. Most of all he enjoyed being with his wife and family. Jonah had a great sense of humor and a smile that lit up a room.

Jonah is survived by his wife, Tami of Alexandria, Virginia; parents, Robert Roggensack of Osage and Jane (Trumm) Roggensack of Mason City; brother, Carter Roggensack of Dubuque; sister, Lily Roggensack of Ames; grandmothers, Bessie Roggensack of Dubuque and Jacqueline Trumm of Cascade; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Francis "Buddy" Trumm and Roy Roggensack; and an aunt, Sharon (Trumm) Aldrich.
