Judith Kirsch Obituary

MASON CITY - Judith L. "Judi" Kirsch, 54, of 1308½ S. Delaware Ave. in Mason City, died Sunday afternoon (July 17, 2005) at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City after a brief battle with cancer.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Family Catholic Church, 714 N. Adams Ave. in Mason City, with the Rev. Jon M. Seda officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery in Mason City.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, prior to the funeral at the church.

Those wishing to extend memorials or an expression of sympathy may direct them to the Judith L. Kirsch Memorial Fund.

Judith Lucille Kirsch was born Dec. 1, 1950, in Charles City, the daughter of Vernon and Mary Lou (Theilen) Carolus. Judi, as she was affectionately known by family and friends, attended both, public and Catholic schools in Mason City. She was united in marriage to Sam Kirsch and the couple moved to New Jersey. Judi returned to Mason City in 1990. Most recently, she worked at and enjoyed many friends at Hy-Vee West in Mason City.

Judi was known for her kindness. She enjoyed being around her family, friends, and especially her grandchildren. Judi loved animals and held a special place in her heart for her pets, Chelsea, her dog, and Mickey, her cat. Judi's interests included needlepoint, reading and cooking.

Grateful for having had the privilege of sharing in Judi's life are her daughter, Sonia Carolus; grandchildren, Ashley Anderson, Stephen Carolus and Payton Carolus; her brothers and sisters and their children: Mike Carolus (Jason, Lori and Dawn), Diana (Don) Kellar (Brandon, Jared and Lindsay), and Steve Dunlap and Carol Sheppard (Shawn, Krystal, Justice and Dennis); her step-mother, Shirley Carolus; half-brothers and half-sisters and their children: Jeff Carolus (Cole and Jessica), Faith Maakestad (Trent); Wanda (Mike) Pelz (Nick and Danielle), and Troy Carolus (Austin).

Judi is preceded in death by her parents, Vernon Carolus and Mary Lou Eddy; and grandparents, Bernard Theilen, Alfred and Lucille Boehmer, and Ralph and Emma Carolus.

You have our deepest sympathy. My mother used to baby sit with Judi, she was also an aunt of Vern, sister of Ralph Carolus.
