OSAGE – Kenneth Joseph Blaser, age 90, of Osage, died Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, Minn.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Sept. 16, 2013, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage with Father Raymond Burkle officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery at Osage. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Sunday at Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage with a rosary at 4:30 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m.
Kenneth was born Nov. 24, 1922, on the family farm near Meyer, Iowa, the son of John and Anna (Blake) Blaser. He attended Sacred Heart Catholic Grade School in Meyer. On Aug. 30, 1949, Kenneth married Lucille Freund at St. John's Catholic Church in Johnsburg, Minn. To this union, seven children were born. He was a hard worker and a dedicated farmer who was always ready to lend a helping hand. Kenneth retired in 1988, and he and Lucille moved from their farm near Meyer to Osage in 1989. After his retirement, Kenneth continued to help on the farm. Kenneth was a former member of the Stacyville Co-op Creamery Board. He enjoyed dancing, spending time with his family, and having coffee with his friends at Hardees. Kenneth will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Lucille Blaser of Osage; his children: Wayne (Mary) Blaser of Boyceville, Wis., Norma (Wayne) Simonson of Grapevine, Texas, Arlene (Dave) Church of Stacyville, Cheryl (Russ) Hemann of Dubuque, Jim (Lana) Blaser of Stacyville, Sheila (Chris) Kolbert of St. Charles, Minn., Lisa (Jeff) Duncan of Rochester, Minn.; 15 grandchildren: Bryan (Christa) Blaser, Rick (Tiffany) Blaser, Jon (Molly) Blaser, Matthew Simonson, Brad (Tracy) Church, Brandi Church, Brittany (Jeff) Myhre, Julie (Brian) Jasken, Crystal (Will) Thomas, Brent Blaser, Katie Blaser, Jayme Blaser, Kayla Kolbert, Jason Kolbert and Gracie Duncan; 17 great-grandchildren with the anticipated arrival of two more; brother, Gervis Blaser of Osage; sister, Kathleen Wiste of Adams, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandson, Michael Blaser; brothers, Roger, Norbert and Richard Blaser; and sisters, Irene Jax, Mildred Blaser, Rita Smith and Armella Kramer.
