Kenneth Henderson Obituary

Kenneth (Orv) L. Henderson passed peacefully at his home on August 19th with his family at his side.

Ken was diagnosed with cancer on July 8th. He bravely fought an uphill battle.

Ken was born to Orval and Beverly (Hudson) of Dougherty March 7th, 1956. They lived for a time in Nora Springs, then to a small farm near Rudd. Ken attended Osage schools.

He married his high school sweetheart, his 1st love (Deb Johnson). Together they raised two sons, Daniel and Joseph. In 2003, Ken married Jane Bielefeld, also originally from Dougherty. Ken stepped into the role of a father figure to her son Jordan, attending his sports events with vigor, cheering him on. Ken was a devoted fan of the Vikings. He also enjoyed hunting deer with both rifles and a muzzle loader, as well as fishing at his favorite spot, his acreage on the Cedar River. Ken was often joined by his sons and dtr in law, Stacie, at the river where they all loved camping and cookouts. Ken particularly enjoyed spending quality time with his grandchildren. Often asking them philosophical questions of what they were going to do to promote the planet and prevent its demise. Ken was an avid student of the Bible and its teachings, leaning heavily on the promise of a new life.

Ken spent his adult life as a farmer and truck driver. He preferred the solitude of each. His last employment of several years was with Northern National Trucking in Clear Lake. Ken found another family there he spoke well of.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents as well as an older sister, Diana, who died as a toddler of an accident.

He is survived by his siblings, Jim (Mindy) of Osage, Mike (Marilyn) Rudd and Sandy ( Rich Onken) of Orchard. Several nieces and nephews. Sons Dan (Stacie), grandson Alex. Joe and granddtr Ky. Deb Henderson, all of Charles City. Spouse Jane, her sons Jordan Bielefeld, grandchildren Will, Madeline, Weston, Walker, and Meredith. Their mother Katie Bielefeld. Ryan Speakar, grandson Monte of Mason City.

My heartfelt sympathy to Orv´s family. He and Kevin Gabby were good friends of mine in high school. We may have been a wee bit wild. I remember Orvie as having a heart of gold and a gentle spirit.
May the love of family & friends be a balm for your spirits during this tender time.
