Marjorie Logemann Obituary

Marjorie Ann Logemann

Marjorie Ann Logemann, of Woden, or "Ammie" to many, passed away peacefully at her home Easter weekend. Surrounded by family singing Marj's favorite hymns, her final moments were fitting as faith and family meant everything to Marj. She often said she was "blessed" by the love of family and friends. Listening to endless chatter and bird watching around the marsh brought Marj immense joy and tranquility. Rarely was there a conversation she didn't enjoy or a bird she didn't know.

Marjorie, a strong bright woman and peacemaker, was the daughter of Elmer and Nellie (Thompson) Larson and born February 27, 1939, in Eagle Grove. She graduated from Crystal Lake High School in 1957, attended Waldorf College, and later obtained her bachelor's degree in education from Buena Vista. One of Marj's many loves was education; seizing every opportunity to learn or teach, she ended up spending many years in the classroom whether it be preschool, Sunday School, adult education, or nature courses.

On July 12th, 1959, she was united in marriage to Duane Logemann at Grant Lutheran Church and blessed with six children from that union. Duane and Marj eventually moved from their farm northeast of Woden, where they raised their children, to the farm known as "Tjaden Place," a longtime dream of hers. A little over ten years ago, the opportunity arose to participate in the wetland restoration program claiming the land as a wildlife refuge, or "Marj's Marsh" as some called it. Her passion for nature and taking care of God's earth could be seen through the marsh, and she thoroughly enjoyed each aspect, especially bird watching up to her final moments.

Marj is survived by her six children, Teresa Stecker of West Liberty, IA, David (Julie) Logemann of Earlham, IA, Bruce (Sherri) Logemann of Superior, AZ, Jason (Heather) Logemann of Turlock, CA, Jolene Brackey of Polson, MT, and Neal (Cindy) Logemann of Adel, IA; 20 grandchildren, Stephanie (Taylor) Getting, Stacie (Jarred) Wagner, Simon (Simone) Stecker, Samuel (Emily) Stecker, Jessica Stecker, Caleb (Alyssa) Logemann, Isaac Logemann, Tim (Rachel) Logemann, Nathaniel Logemann, Sadie Logemann, April (Adam) Gaustad, Amber (Kylie) McChesney, Cole (Jenna) Logemann, Seth (Abby) Logemann, Charity Logemann, Sidnee Brackey, Taylor (Mack) Carpenter, Keegen Brackey, Ethan Logemann, and Zac Logemann; seven great-grandchildren, Ellia, Everly, Eastyn, Elias, Zakai, Everett and Maverick; a sister, Carolyn Price of Forest City; a brother, Alan (Lynn) Larson of Crystal Lake; sister-in-law, Verona Larson of Clear Lake; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Duane, Apr. 14, 2023; and brother, Richard Larson.

If you'd like to celebrate her life or reminisce of her love, the visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday April 24th at Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Woden. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 25th at the Britt Zion Church of the Nazarene. Burial to follow at Grant Township Cemetery, in rural Woden where she will join her late husband, Duane Logemann.

Marjorie will be dearly missed and joyously remembered through the cardinals in the trees to hymns that she sang, a mother, a grandma, a woman of God.
