EL PASO, Texas | Melody Ann (Palmer) Scheetz, 55, of El Paso, Texas, formerly Thornton, Iowa, died suddenly Sunday, August 16, 2015, at her home.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, August 23, 2015, at the Clear Lake United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Jacqueline Thompson officiating.
Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City, Iowa.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Saturday at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake. Family suggests memorials to Melody Ann Scheetz memorial fund in care of John Scheetz, 11253 Warcloud, El Paso, Texas 79936.
Melody was born March 1, 1960, in Mankato, Minnesota, the daughter of James L. and Shirley (Kirkeide) Palmer. She graduated from Meservey-Thornton High School in 1978 and continued her education at Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa, with a degree in education.
She married the love of her life John Scheetz in 1985 and to this union, two daughters were born, Keely and Heather Scheetz.
They moved to El Paso in 1989, where she enjoyed her many years of teaching Elementary children. She was well loved and respected by her church family, co-workers and the community.
She enjoyed reading, collecting dolphin's figurines and especially spending time with her friends and family.
She was a member of New Hope Church of God, El Paso, Texas.
Melody is survived by her husband John Scheetz, El Paso, Texas; two daughters Keely Scheetz, Morris, Minnesota and Heather Scheetz, Alamosa, Colorado; her mother Shirley Palmer, Clear Lake, Iowa; her brother Mark (Amy) Palmer, Garner, Iowa and a sister Jennifer Palmer, Clear Lake, Iowa; her sister-in-law Kay Scheetz, Muskego, Wisconsin; father-in-law Edward Scheetz, Franklin, Wisconsin; nieces and nephews Adam, Andrew, Stephanie, Samantha, Zachary and Alex Palmer; two great-nephews and one great-niece. She was preceded in death by her father James Palmer; brother Jeffrey Palmer and mother-in-law Carol Scheetz.
