Michael Brandon Hogan was born Jan. 26, 1988, in Mason City to James A. and Angela K. (Geary) Hogan. He was the second son born to his parents and was affectionately known by his family and friends as "Mike."

Mike was currently a senior at North Central-Manly High School where he was a member of the Falcon football and JV basketball teams. Cheering for the Iowa Hawkeyes the Minnesota Vikings and the Philadelphia 76ers basketball team was one of Mike's favorite past times. He also had a passion for spending time outdoors, hunting and fishing and especially being included in the "guys trips" to northern Minnesota.

Mike will be best remembered for his electric personality and smile. He had a gift for making those around him laugh and always had hugs available to give. Mike loved music and spending time with all of his family and his friends.

Mike will be forever cherished in the hearts of his family and friends.

Grateful for having Mike in their life are his parents, Angela Hogan of Mason City; James "Jim" (Ann) Hogan of Plymouth; his brother, Erik Hogan of Plymouth; his two step-brothers, Nicholas Gamache of North Branch, Minn., and Joe Gamache of Plymouth; and his niece, Elizabeth Gamache of North Branch. Mike will also be sadly missed by his maternal grandparents, Richard and Rose Geary of Oelwein; his paternal grandmother, Mary Ann Hogan of Oelwein; his maternal great-grandmother, Gladys Grummitt of Hazelton; and his aunt, Laurie Moyle of Mount Pleasant. Many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and numerous other relatives and countless friends survive Mike.

Preceding Mike in death are his paternal grandfather, Frank Hogan in December 1987; and his uncle, Richard Geary.

Mike may be gone from the earth but the legend of him will live on forever. He was put on this planet for one goal. To make everyone laugh and grow closer together. He accomplished that in the short time he lived. Mike will never be forgotten. He was the guy that made everyone laugh in every situation. See you later Michael.

Mike,

I didn't know you that well, but I really enjoyed getting to know you alot better this year. You always made algebra more bearable and were really fun to talk to in study hall. When I found out about your accident I was stunned. It still hasn't quite sunk in that you're never coming back. You were such a minor part of my life that its amazing how much different it seems without you in it. This has impacted me more than I would have imagined. Death used to be such a big fear of mine, but somehow it doesn't seem so bad anymore. I guess YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU HAVE UNTIL ITS GONE. Ill see you later Mike. Peace

There are no words to explain how much Michael is loved and will be missed. He had the kindest heart of anyone I knew and a spirit that will never die. I will carry his memories in my heart for the rest of my life. As much as I am hurting right now I can't help but be thankful for the time I had with Mike, and look forward to seeing him again someday. His family and friends are in my thoughts and prayers. See you there Mike, I love you!

All can really say is that mike will definetly be missed, what happened to him could happen to any of us... all we can do now is cope with the fact that none of us kids are invincible, the feeling of mortality is really starting to set in, but I think mike would want everyone to just try and be happy and remember what a great guy he was... because as long as we remember the big guy, he'll never really die.

Mike would walk into a room full of bored students and somehow everything got much more exciting. He would always make you smile with his sarcastic jokes. I may not have known him very much but he was a big impact on my life. I send my prayers to his family, friends and anyone else who is having a hard time. Mike will not be forgotten and at North Central we will always remember him. ~You'll always be in our hearts...see you at the crossroads~

Mike was such a neat guy. He was a friend to everyone and everyone in middle school and high school knew who he was. He made everyone around him happier and was always making jokes. North Central just won't be the same without him!

Mike was a student of mine and a member of the boys' basketball team. I've never met a more socially gifted young man. Mike always called a circle what it is, a circle; he never kept his thoughts to himself. More times than not he made everyone else around him stronger, but more importantly, he always made the people around him happier. The members of his class, the boyz in P-town, the school, and hundreds of others will mourn his loss. I lived vicariously through Mike. He made me think about my teenage years, and I could look in his eyes and see images of myself. It's ironic that Mike carried so many of us on his shoulders at all times and didn't know it, and now we are obligated to carry Mike's spirit on our shoulders so those poor souls that never knew the man get to know his spirit. You're forever in my heart buddy. I'll see you when I get there.
