Patricia Pirkl Goebel

February 29, 1940 - May 2, 2025

Patricia (Patty) Ann Pirkl Goebel was born in Mason City, Iowa, on leap year's day February 29, 1940. She passed away on May 2, 2025 in Cleburne, Texas. Her parents were Mark and Dorothy Connelly Pirkl. She graduated with 20 other students from St. Josephs Catholic school in 1958. She married James Michael Goebel, of Mason City, on June 9, 1962. He preceded her in death May, 10, 1994 in Amarillo, Texas. They lived at various times in Kansas City, Cedar Rapids, and Texas. They moved to Hereford, Texas in 1975 and later to Amarillo, Texas. They are survived by their three children, Celia (Mike O'Rand), Cynthia Hinkel, and Gregory (Kari Graff), nine grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. The Globe Gazette featured her two candle 8th birthday picture in March 1948. The Pirkl's hosted post-basketball game high school dances in her small family's small basement on Jersey Street where parochial and public student attended in the Elvis era. She worked at the Record Salon in Cedar Rapids where Buddy Holly was scheduled to visit on the week of his fatal plane crash. She was an avid golfer and won two Mason City Women's golf championships in the early 70's. Her greatest accomplishment was being a homemaker and beloved mother to her children. She painted ceramics and was also a hairdresser. She was a Christian.
