Peter Schaefer Obituary

RICEVILLE | Peter Joseph Schaefer, age 80, of Riceville passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Saturday, March 22, 2014.

Funeral services will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Riceville on Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Steve Garner officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Riceville.

Friends may call at the Lindstrom Funeral Home in Riceville on Tuesday, March 25, during the hours of 4 to 7 p.m. and one hour before services at the church on Wednesday. A rosary service will be held on Tuesday at 4 p.m. at the funeral home.

Peter was born April 6, 1933, on the family farm in Mower County near Meyer, Iowa, to John W. and Emma (Kresbach) Schaefer. He attended local rural schools. On January 9, 1954, Peter was united in marriage to Ann Miller at St. John's Catholic Church in Johnsburg, Minnesota. Peter was a retired farmer.

Survivors include his wife Ann; daughters Linda (Chuck) Schumann, Doris (Jim) Green, Sharon (Gary) Adams, Theresa (Kenneth) Smith, all of Riceville, and Nancy (Frank) Theis of New Haven, Iowa; 24 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Bud (Rose) Schaefer of Adams, Minn., Ray (Judy) Schaefer of Danville, Kentucky; and a sister Gladys Miller of Adams, Minn.

Preceding Pete in death were his parents; two sons Joseph and Daryl; a granddaughter Rachel Theis; and a sister Jolene May.
