Roger Dean (Butch) Kellogg, 79, of Charles City, Iowa, passed away after a tough battle with cancer and was finally able to go to his eternal home on Monday, November 3, 2025, from the MercyOne New Hampton Medical Center in New Hampton, Iowa. Roger was born on May 15, 1946, in Charles City, Iowa, the son of Lyle and Cecelia (Schilling) Kellogg. He grew up and graduated high school in Charles City. Roger attended U.S. Trade School in Kansas City, Mo., in Auto mechanics and started his work life as a mechanic for Duroe's Inc working on Pontiacs and Buicks. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army having served his country from Nov. 65 to August 67 including serving in the Vietnam War. He worked at the Oliver Farm Equipment factory in Charles City, Lindaman Farms, All States Quality Foods in Charles City, Eaton's in Belmond where he retired in 2010, and with his father-in-law on the farm south of Charles City. Roger enjoyed hunting deer and fishing any place he could launch a boat. He enjoyed driving his big Chevy truck and having a beer with his close friends. Roger was united in marriage to Kathleen "Kitty" Miller on December 1, 1967, at the First United Methodist Church in Charles City and spent their entire life in Charles City. Left to cherish his memory are his two sons, Scott Kellogg of Belmond, and Doug (Kim) Kellogg of Charles City; 5 grandchildren: Kelsey Rohwedder, Sadie (Connor) Blankenship, Celeste, Koyer, and Zander Kellogg; great-grandchildren: Hayden Rink and Freya Blankenship. Nephew Shawn (Tammy) Kellogg. Five brothers-in-law Daniel (Lana), Dennis (Carol), Hal, Joe (Lisa), and Marc Miller; sister-in-law Gloria (Chuck) Kolbet. Numerous great-nieces and nephews Roger is preceded in death by his wife Kathleen; his parents, Lyle and Cecelia (Sis) Kellogg; parents-in-law Garold and Ruth Miller; sister Mary Kellogg, sister-in-law Sharon Miller; and grandparents. There will be a celebration of life at a later date for both Roger and Kathleen.
