Rosetta V. "Rosie" Geraets
August 13, 1940-May 7, 2024
God took Rosetta to be with Him on Tuesday, May 7, 2024. Rosetta was born August 13, 1940, to Ted and Justine Tebbe in Chester, SD. She was the fourth of eight children.
After graduating from Chester High School she attended Nettleton Business School.
In 1960 she married Donald Geraets and they made their home in Dell Rapids, SD where their first child was born in 1961. They relocated to Sioux Falls and were blessed with three more children. In 1970 Don received a transfer from Crescent Electric which brought them to Mason City, it was here their family was completed with the addition of their two youngest children.
After their children were school aged, Rosie began working for Raizes Department Store until its closing in 1980. Rosie then started at St Joseph's Catholic School where she served hot lunch. She worked there for many years before returning to sales, this time at JC Penney where she worked for nearly 20 years until her retirement in 2006. After retirement she and Don enjoyed extensive travel and covered all 50 states!
Rosie was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. Her loving nature also extended to the babies she welcomed into their home while serving as a foster mother for Catholic Charities. She was a talented seamstress and made many of her children's clothes and outfits for her girls' dolls too. In the summer months she enjoyed vegetable gardening and canning.
Rosetta is survived by her six children, Dawn (Roger) Nelson, Clear Lake, IA; Tim Geraets, Cicero, NY; Michelle (John) Ernzen, Orlando, FL; Serena (Paul) Albracht, David City, NE; Troy (Jen) Geraets, Solon, IA; and Niccole Geraets, Lincoln, NE; seven grandchildren, Christopher (Shawna) Belcourt, Samantha Nelson, Taylor Hapgood, Gabriella Geraets, Hailey Luebe, Riley Luebe, Sean Geraets; great grandchildren, Alicia, Trinity, Johanna, Graycnn, Emily, Izabella, Remington; and siblings, Merlin, Evelyn, Arlene, Carol, Dianne, Lyle, and Mary.
