Ryan Hemann Obituary

Ryan Hemann

August 8, 2000 - October 3, 2025

Ryan Lee Hemann, age 25, of Osage, Iowa, passed away on Friday, October 3, 2025, at Mayo Clinic Hospital Rochester, St. Marys Campus in Rochester, Minnesota. Ryan was born August 8, 2000, to Jerome "Jerry" and Tamara "Tami" (Nack) Hemann at the University of Iowa Clinics and Hospitals in Iowa City, Iowa. Ryan was born with a severe case of spina bifida and none of the doctors gave much hope for him. However, Ryan had different thoughts. He quickly surpassed all of their predictions and forged ahead making a wonderful life for himself. He attended Osage Community School with his peers and graduated in 2019. He then did vocational training with 43 North Iowa. He was employed at Pizza Ranch in Charles City as a greeter.

Ryan had a wonderful sense of humor. He loved telling "stories." He was quite the conversationalist. He loved making people laugh and then laughing along with him. He also had a very sweet and caring side. He was always concerned about others. Ryan unknowingly taught many lessons to those who were lucky enough to cross his path.

Ryan enjoyed sports of every kind. He very rarely missed games at the high school. His favorite teams were the Minnesota Vikings, Iowa Hawkeyes, and the Osage Green Devils. He enjoyed watching TV with his favorite shows being Big Brother, Survivor, and The Golden Girls. Ryan became a local celebrity after he and Bradley Gentz teamed up to run marathons. Brad pushed Ryan in a specially designed chair and Ryan cheered them on.

Ryan is survived by his parents, Jerry and Tami Hemann; his "big kids," Matthew Hemann of Cresco, Brittaney (Rick) Baughman of Fort Dodge, Blair (Jody Leist) Wilde of Stratford, and Stephanie (Justin) Rogers of Osage. He was an uncle to Taylor, Khloe, and Kaden, and is further survived by his aunts, Kathy Hemann, Barb (Lee) Meitner, and Gena Hemann. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Gervace and Patty Hemann of Riceville, Nancy Hemann, Richard and Charlotte Nack of Grafton; and uncle, Ron Hemann of Charles City.

A celebration of Ryan's life will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at the VFW Post 7920, Hwy 218 N. in Osage. It will be as Ryan would have liked- casual attire. Vikings, Hawkeye, and Osage shirts are welcome as they were Ryan's favorite teams. Hoff Celebrations - Champion Chapel of Osage is assisting the family with arrangements.
