Sharon McGowan-Finders Obituary

MARSHALLTOWN | Sharon Kay McGowan-Finders, 74, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away Saturday, October 10, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 14, 2015, at Anderson Funeral Homes, 405 W. Main St., Marshalltown.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, October 13, 2015, at Anderson Funeral Home. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City.

Memorials will be directed to the care of rescue animals in Sharon's name.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Anderson Funeral Homes. Online condolences may be sent to www.andersonfhs.com.

Sharon was born October 24, 1940, to Alden LeRoy and Hilda Mable (Farrer) McGowan, in Mason City, IA. She attended Mason City Schools and Mercedian School of Nursing. Sharon was always a caregiver, being a stay-at-home mom for 18 years, working as a LPN at the Marshalltown Hospital and retiring as a nurse from the Iowa Veterans Home.

Sharon was united in marriage to Gordon Finders on November 22, 1996, in Marshalltown. Together they enjoyed volunteering as readers at Franklin Elementary and following all their children and grandchildren's sports and activities. Sharon also had a love for dogs, rescuing and taking in many over the years.

Sharon is survived by her husband, Gordon; children: Annette (Andy) Queck of Bryant, AR, Alan (Michelle) Vry of Des Moines, IA, Andrew (Tawnya) Vry of Mingo, IA, Rhonda (Gary) Vry-Bills of Altoona, IA, Michael Finders of Longmont, CO, and Stephan Finders of New Orleans, LA; grandchildren: Travis and Austin Queck of AR, Kylie and Tyler Vry of Runnells, IA, Kathryn and Melany Vry of Mingo, IA, K.J. and MacKenzie Bills of Altoona, IA, and Emma and Clara Finders of CO; brother, Robert (Bev) McGowan of Mason City and sister, Mary Lou Halloran of Mason City.

Sharon is preceded in death by her parents, Alden and Hilda McGowan.
