RUDD | Vern N. Morische, age 87, of rural Rudd, entered into eternal rest on Friday, Oct. 4, 2013, at Faith Lutheran Home in Osage.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 7, 2013, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 1921 317th St., south of Osage, with Pastor Byron Northwick officiating. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery with a flag presentation by Osage American Legion Post 278. Visitation will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage.
Vern was born Dec. 15, 1925, in Osage, the son of John and Emma (Dieterich) Morische. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church. Vern graduated from Osage High School in 1942. He entered the U.S. Army and served in Germany during the Korean Conflict.
On Nov. 25, 1956, he married Eilene Muller at St. John's Lutheran Church. They farmed and raised their family in rural Rudd.
Vern was a member of the Osage American Legion. He was also a member of St. John's Lutheran Church where he served in many capacities. He also served on the Faith Lutheran Home Board. Vern enjoyed card club and reading. He had a great love for his family, and especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Vern is survived by his children, Karen (Walter) Cheeseman of Grundy Center, Marilyn (Leon) Fahrmann of Alexander, John (Julie) Morische of Rudd; 11 grandchildren: Ryan (Lacey) Cheeseman, Brent (Karrie) Cheeseman, Emily (Tommy) Wedmore, Jennifer Fahrmann, Garrett (Natalie) Fahrmann, Carrie Fahrmann, Rebecca Fahrmann, Benjamin Fahrmann, Bethany Morische, Kimberly Morische, and Jeffrey Morische; five great-grandchildren: Cael, Blake and Maegan Cheeseman, Riley and Kinsley Fahrmann; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Eilene Morische in 2011; and a sister, Loras Troge.
