Barbara Joyce Johnson Hendrickson passed away on Friday, August 10, 2018, at her home. She was born in Geneva County, Alabama, on August 25, 1938, and was predeceased by her parents, Robbie Harris and Othar Leon Johnson; sisters, Hazel Howell and Mary Veazy; and brother, Harry Johnson. She is survived by her husband, Mike Kelsey Hendrickson of the home; children, Mike Kelsey Jr. and Lori Hendrickson of Raleigh, N.C., and Dr. Steven Craig and Terri Hendrickson of Greensboro, N.C.; and granddaughters, Kelsey Butler and her husband, Bill, of Charlotte, N.C., Kristin Hendrickson of Charlotte, N.C., Cameron Hendrickson of Greensboro, N.C., and Isabella Hendrickson of Raleigh, N.C. Also surviving are her beloved in-laws, Nancy and Bob Vandergriff of Knoxville, Tenn., Jerry and Frankie Hendrickson of Macon, Ga., and Trudy and Dan Swicegood of Knoxville, Tenn.; and a number of loved nieces and nephews. Joyce was a member of First Baptist Church for over 40 years and was involved with many church activities and faithfully served on many committees. She served on the boards of The Wednesday Club, the Gabriella Garden Club, and the Danville Council of Garden Clubs. She had many hobbies and interests, but enjoyed her family most of all. She loved and was loved by many and will be dearly missed. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church on Monday, August 13, 2018, followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m. at the church with the Reverend John Carroll officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 871 Main St., Danville, VA 24541 or to a charity of your choice.
