Coleman Doss Obituary
CHATHAM - Coleman Jack Doss, 81, of 1601 Cooksburg Road, Chatham, died Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009, at Gretna Health and Rehab Center.
Born June 12, 1928, in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late George Thomas Doss and Liza Ann Owen Doss. He was predeceased by three brothers, James Doss, Morrison Doss and Henry Doss; and four sisters, Eula Walker, Blanch Thomas, Ora Haskins and Mary Matherly.
Mr. Doss was a member of Greenfield Baptist Church. He was a farmer, and retired from Klopman Mills after 37 years of service. He enjoyed gardening, visiting friends, traveling and his cows.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Louise Barbour Doss, of the residence; a son, Bill Doss and his wife, Hope, of Chatham; a daughter, Betty Jo Adkins and her husband, Tex, of Chatham; a brother, Moncie Lee Doss, of Sandy Level; five grandchildren, Cheryl Pritchett, Sheila Adams, Jason Adkins, Aaron Doss, and C.J. Doss; eight great-grandchildren, Michael Adams, Christopher Adams, Megan Adams, Casey Adams, Tommie-Jo Lewis, Brice Pritchett, Brandon Pritchett and Scott Adkins; and two great-great-grandchildren, Makayla Adams and Gabriel Atkinson.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16, 2009, at Colbert-Moran Chapel by the Rev. R.G. Rowland. Burial will follow in Gretna Burial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today, Nov. 15, 2009, at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
Colbert-Moran Funeral Home, Gretna, is in charge of arrangements.

BETTY JO AND FAMILY , MAY GOD BE WITH YOU AS YOU GO THROUGH THIS TIME IN YOUR LIVES. I KNOW THAT JACK IS AT PEACE NOW. WE SHARED SOME GOOD OL TIMES TOGETHER YEARS AGO, AND EVERYTIME I EVER SEEN HIM HE ALWAYS HAD THAT SMILE ON HIS FACE AND THAT SOFT SPOKEN VOICE. YOU GUYS HAVE TRUELY LOST A LARGE PIECE OF HISTORY. 81 YEARS YOUNG. I KNOW HE IS UP THERE WAITING AT THE DOOR FOR HIS FAMILY AND WITH A BLINK OF AN EYE YOU WILL BE WITH HIM. SO YOU GREEVE AND THEN GO ON WITH YOUR LIVES THAT IS WHAT HE WOULD WANT. GOD SPEED JACK , WE WILL ALL BE TOGETHER ONE DAY. LOVE ALL OF YOU SHEREE LAWRENCE
