Cynthia Gatewood White, age 81, formerly of 3961 Sugarhill Rd., Brookneal, Va., passed away on Saturday, June 30, 2018, while a resident of Sentara Woodview Nursing Home, South Boston, Va. Born on March 11, 1937, Mrs. White was the daughter of the late Ota Hunter Gatewood and Edwin Gatewood. She was married to the late Richard C. White, who predeceased her on November 4, 2016. Cynthia was raised in Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church, Danville, Va., and worked at Virginia Baptist Hospital as an LPN. Mrs. White is survived by her three daughters, Laura Dickens of Danville, Kathyrn Brewer of South Boston and Shannon Burton of Nathalie, Va.; a brother, Edwin Gatewood; as well as five grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. White was predeceased by her daughter, Jennifer White; and her son, Daniel White. A memorial service to honor the life of Mrs. White will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2018, at Norris Funeral Services, West End Chapel, 511 Church Ave., Danville, Va., officiated by great-grandson, Dustin Dickens. A visitation will be conducted one hour prior to the memorial service from 1 to 2 p.m. Norris Funeral Services, Inc. and Crematory, West End Chapel, 511 Church Ave., Danville, is serving the White family.
