Danny Barker Obituary
July 22, 1958 - October 13, 2021
Danny Ray Barker, 63, of Danville, Va. died Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at SOVAH Health in Danville.
Danny was born in Danville, Va. on July 22, 1958, a son of the late Sherwood Lynn Barker and Lucille Cox Barker. He lived his entire life in Danville, VA and retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company after 44 years of service.
Danny was a member of Brush Arbor Baptist Church where he served on the teller committee, as an usher, and was president of the Adult Bible Class. He was a member of URW at Goodyear. Danny loved golf, was an avid sports fan, supporting the Dallas Cowboys, the Duke Blue Devils and the Boston Celtics. He enjoyed visiting with friends and never met a stranger.
On April 20, 1992 he married Nancy Elizabeth Barker, who survives.
In addition to his wife, of the residence, Danny is survived by three sons, Daniel J. Barker of Swanboro, N.C., John M. Barker of Lynchburg, Va., and Jacob T. Barker of Danville, Va.; and multiple in-laws, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Debra Barker Bowen; and a nephew, Steven Hash.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 17, 2021 at 2 p.m. at the Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel. Interment will follow in Highland Burial Park.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, October 16, 2021 from 7 until 8:30 p.m.
