David also was a member of the Kiwanis Club and volunteered for God's Storehouse, along with other volunteer work for other agencies, as he always cared deeply for the people around him.

David is survived by three sons, Preston Hyde and wife Jordan of Danville, Va., Prentiss Hyde and wife Geri Anne of Chesterfield, Va., and David Ray Hyde Jr. and wife Madlene of Dinwiddie, Va.; four grandchildren, Austyn Hyde, Connor Hyde, Kipp Hyde, and Rosemary Hyde; and his best friend; Albert Payne.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at 4 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Danville, 937 Main Street, Danville, VA 24541, with Pastor Jackson Weller officiating. A visitation will be held prior to the service on the same day from 3 to 4 p.m., also at the church. At other times the family will receive friends at the residence of his son, Preston Hyde.
