David Smith, 59, of 5825 Medical Center Road, Axton, VA Passed away suddenly on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at his residence.

David was born in Danville, VA on February 17, 1965, a son of the late Landon Smith, Sr. and Thelma Elizabeth Williams Smith. He attended Tunstall High School.

David began his professional journey at Durham Hosiery before transitioning to Burlington Industries and later joining Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company where he worked for 22 years.

At Durham Hosiery, David crossed paths with his future wife, Christy Davis, where they worked together until the closure of the company. Their relationship blossomed, leading to their marriage on June 14, 1993.

David was renowned for his caring and affectionate nature, always dependable and selfless-a paragon of the ideal husband.

In addition to his wife of the residence, David is survived by his loving son, Connor Smith; his brother, Charles Smith (Vivian); sister, Susan Stone (Joel); mother-in-law, Doris Willis Davis; sisters-in-law, Donna Brown (Bobby), Angie Harden (Dave) and Pamela Davis; brother-in-law, Chuck Davis; aunts, Shelva McAlexander, Ann Thompson, Nancy Clardy, and Sibyl Hutcherson (Kenneth); numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; along with his beloved beagles, Chewy, Solo, and Buddy; and his seven cat fur babies.

David was predeceased by his parents; his brothers, Landon Smith, Jr. and Jesse Smith; father-in-law, Ed Davis; and brother-in-law, Jason Davis.

A funeral service for David will be conducted on Sunday, April 7, 2024, at 2 p.m. at the Faith Memorial Baptist Church with Pastor Daniel Lackey, Pastor Seth Lackey, and Pastor Austin Merricks officiating. Interment will follow the service in the Landon Smith Family Cemetery at 5701 Medical Center Road, Axton, VA 24054. The family is requesting that attendees wear attire of their choosing to the funeral, whether it be casual wear like overalls or jeans, or dressier options. The family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel and at other times the family will be at the residence, 5825 Medical Center Road, Axton, VA 24054.

Memorial donations can be made to the Tunstall Fire Department, the Brosville Fire Department, the Danville Humane Society, or a charity of your choice. Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel is respectfully serving the Smith family.
