David Wall Obituary

David Brightwell Wall

David Brightwell Wall, 88, of Danville, departed this life on Sunday, March 23, 2025.

Born in Pittsylvania County in 1937, he was the second youngest of 13 children of the late Vessie Taylor Wall and Nettie Lee Thornton Wall. He is survived by his beloved youngest sister, June Hylton.

David began working at Dan River Mills at an early age, beginning what would become a 45-year career. He later served in the United States Army with the 2nd Infantry Division and went on to retire from the Virginia National Guard after 20 years of dedicated service.

While working at Dan River Mills, David met the love of his life, Barbara Hare Wall and they married on February 2, 1963.

He is survived by his son, William David Wall (Lorianne), and two daughters, Rebecca Ann Webb (Ronnie) and Ronda Kaye Wall Brown (Joey).

David was a kind and caring man, a friend to everyone he met. He was a lifelong fan of the Washington Redskins, the Boston Red Sox, and NASCAR, and never turned down a game of horseshoes. Later in life, he found joy in gardening and taking care of the squirrels and birds, all while keeping a watchful eye on the neighborhood.

He deeply believed in God, loved his family, his country, and his American flag. Chocolate was a treat at any time, and Pepsi was his favorite. His way of handling life's challenges was to go for a drive, talk it over with the Lord, and return with peace in his heart.

A public service will be held at Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel on Friday, March 28, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., followed by a graveside service at Danville Memorial Gardens with burial of ashes with Military Honors.

The family will begin receiving friends from 12:00 p.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.

Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel is respectfully serving the Wall family.

David was a long time friend to my family and big brother Cecil. I knew him as Crockett in the early years and that is how I greeted him whenever I saw him. He was known to be a good, hard working man from a wonderful family. He will be missed.
