GERALDINE LAVINDER Obituary
Geraldine Dudley Lavinder, age 80, formerly of Arlington Place in Danville, died July 18, 2010 in Hollywood Florida where she had been a resident for the past twelve years.
Born November 24, 1929 in Schoolfield, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Harrison Brady Dudley and Laura Lakey Dudley. She lived most of her life in Danville and was employed as a nurse with Danville Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Lavinder was predeceased by her husband, Earl Howell Lavinder. She was a member of the former Schoolfield United Methodist Church, and was active in the Elkette Fraternity Auxiliary and the American Legion Post 92 Auxiliary.
Survivors include one son: Scotty W. Lavinder of Hollywood, Florida; two grandsons: Jacob Lavinder and Phillip Lavinder, both of Hollywood, Florida. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by three brothers: Raymond H. Dudley, Archie W. Dudley, and Curtis Dudley; and by one sister: Lousie Rapp.
Graveside services at Mountain View Cemetery will be conducted Sunday, August 1, 2010 at 2 p.m. With Dr. Paul Phillips officiating. Swicegood Funeral Home is respectfully serving the Lavinder family.
The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made to the Danville Life Saving Crew, 202 Christopher Lane, Danville, Virginia 24541, or the Danville Cancer Association, 2323 Riverside Drive, Suite J, Danville, VA 24540.

Scotty, I haven't seen or talked with you in years. I just wanted to let you know that I am so sorry for the loss of your mother...and also sorry that I missed you being in town. It would have been nice to have seen you after so long. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and you will always remain a special friend. With my sympathy....

SCOTTY, I WAS SO SORRY TO HEAR OF YOUR MOTHER'S DEATH. I ATTENDED SCHOOLFIELD CHURCH WITH HER FOR MANY YEARS AND SHE BECAME A GOOD FRIEND. I RECEIVED E-MAILS FROM HER JUST ABOUT EVERY DAY. SHE WAS ALWAYS SENDING ME JOKES, PICTURES, ETC. I KNEW SOMETHING WAS WRONG WHEN I HADN'T RECEIVED ANY FOR SEVERAL WEEKS. PLEASE ACCEPT MY SYMPATHY AT YOUR LOSE. SHE WILL BE MISSED.
