Geraline Robertson Obituary

Geraline Transou Robertson

Geraline Transou Robertson, age 90, passed September 10, 2025. Born January 9, 1935. Daughter of the late Joyce Gilmer Transou and Gertrude Hammock Transou. She married William Alvin Robertson, Sr. on August 8, 1953, who prceded her in death on June 17, 2025.

She is survived by a daughter, Cynthia R. Martin, and husband, Richard; a son, William A. Robertson, Jr., and wife, Wanda Gail; a grandson, W. Bradly Robertson; and a brother, Jack L. Transou, and wife Gaynelle.

Predeceased by an infant sister; a brother, C. Eugene Transou, and wife June; and a grandson, Christopher Martin.

She was born and raised in Danville, VA. She married Bill while he was in the Marine Corp, and lived with him at Quantico for the last two weeks of his service; then moved to Lynchburg when Bill was discharged.

Geraline attended G. W. High School, Phillips Business College, and CVCC; and worked for the Nationwide Insurance Company. She was proud to receive a grandfather's clock prior to her retirement after 40 years of service.

Starting at the age of 10, she played the piano for her Dad's Mens' Bible Sunday School Class. She continued with her talent playing for tent revivals, and continuing through her adult life in her Church, the many organizations she belonged to, and anywhere she found a piano where she could sit down and play a song.

She was a charter member of the First Southern Methodist Church, where she served in many capacities - including teaching Sunday School and Superintendent of Vacation Bible Schools.

Geraline was quite active through her entire life – belonging to the Timbrook Jr. Woman's Club; past President of Seven Hills Toastmistress Club; past Worthy Matron and Grand Page of OES; worked with Jobs Daughters – serving as Guardian and Grand Chaplain; past President of Scottish Rite Women's Club, and Historian for many years. She has been a member of the American Legion Auxiliary (Post 16) for 45 years, serving in many offices, including Unit President 1984-1986; and State President 2002-2003.

Geraline always had a smile, a contagious laugh, and a most interesting story to tell. We have certainly lost our most cherished "go-to" person for any type of family history.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. today, Sunday 14, 2025 at Heritage Funeral Service, 427 Graves Mill Road.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m., Monday, September 15, 2025, in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Service by Pastor Jonathan Falwell. Burial will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, please consider Shriners Children's Hospital, Greenville, 950 W. Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.
